What is home
care?
Home care refers to non-medical supportive services provided by trained professionals in the comfort of your own home.
Unlike institutional settings such as nursing facilities or assisted living homes—where caregivers must divide their attention among many residents —home care offers one-on-one support, allowing for more personalized and attentive care.
This approach allows individuals to maintain their independence, dignity, and daily routines while receiving the assistance they need in a familiar and comforting environment.

Q1. What is the difference between home care and home health care?
Home care offers non-clinical help, such as meal prep, mobility assistance, companionship, while home health care — sometimes shortened to “home health” — provides professional medical assistance.
Q2. What should I consider when choosing a home care provider?
Top of mind when choosing a home care provider should be quality of care delivered by qualified professionals.
At Gentle Hearts, our highly-trained caregivers are committed to providing compassionate care to our clients.
Q3. What's the difference between a family caregiver and a certified caregiver?
A family caregiver is a family member that is paid to look after a sick child, a person with disabilities, and/or elderly. A certified is someone that has obtained some training to provide assistance with activities of daily living.
Q4. Do you provide free consultations before we decide on a home care professional?

Thomas Williams
My wife was suffering from the horrible and debilitating disease A.L.S. As the disease continually robs the body of the ability to be self sufficient, care becomes more and more necessary and difficult. We had hired other caregiver organizations with unsatisfactory results and were looking for a company we could rely on to always be there and be able to handle the special care required. Fortunately we came upon “Gentle Hearts,” finally we had found the mixture of reliability and professionalism we needed. “Gentle Hearts” stayed with my wife until she finally succumbed to the disease and took “caregiving” to an extra stage of not just providing the physical care necessary but adding true caring. I am so glad we were able to work with a company that represented its name, Truly “Gentle Hearts.”

During the time I worked for Gentle Heart as a caregiver, I considered the owner to be a good person who really enjoys her work. She’s understanding with both clients and employees. She always pays on time, communicates respectfully, and stays in touch with caregivers to stay updated on both the clients’ and employees’ needs. If there’s anything she can do to support her staff, she does it. She’s always willing to help and find solutions when problems come up.

I have known Maria Womack since 2008 as I am her former employer. She’s one of the most dedicated, hardworking and professional people I have had the pleasure to work with. Maria is compassionate, kind and never misses the opportunity to help others. She’s also a person of great integrity in her personal and professional life. I wholeheartedly recommend services of Gentle Hearts agency

My wife suffers from Parkinson’s, Arthritis, and other medical issues. She is bedridden and needs lots of care and help. I have employed several caregiving services over the last few years and was not fully satisfied until I contracted Gentle Hearts. They are by far the best! Gentle Hearts caregivers are kind, caring, well-trained, and extremely competent. The prices are also very reasonable compared to other caregiving services. My wife and I are extremely happy with the services we are receiving with Gentle Hearts! We recommend them very highly and you can’t go wrong with Gentle Hearts!

Gentle Hearts Home Care beautifully reflects the warmth, reliability, and dedication that define their approach to caregiving. Under the leadership of Maria Womack, Owner and CEO, the agency has built its reputation on a deeply personal touch—something that’s evident not just in everyday care routines, but especially in sensitive and urgent moments when families need it
most. Maria’s passion is mirrored by her entire caregiving team, who bring empathy, skill, and calm reassurance into every home they enter.
I had the privilege of witnessing this firsthand as Maria, her daughters, and other Gentle Hearts caregivers cared for both of my parents during their end-of-life journeys. They became more than caregivers—they became family. Their support extended beyond physical care to emotional presence, cultural sensitivity, and unwavering commitment in the most tender times. The
connection they formed with my parents and with me continues to leave a lasting impression, and their presence helped turn some of the hardest days into deeply meaningful ones.
As a clinical pharmacist and founder of Rxpertise Pharmacy Consulting (www.rxpertiseconsulting.com), I work closely with older adults and their families, focusing on deprescribing, advocacy, and optimizing whole-person care. When my patients require in-home support, I confidently refer them to Gentle Hearts Caregiving—because I’ve seen the difference they make. Their integrity, responsiveness, and heart-centered model of care make them an ideal partner for anyone seeking thoughtful, trustworthy support for a loved one at home.

Maria W has been an absolutely wonderful person to work for. She is truthful, honest and gives me work whenever possible.
Gabriela Valencia
Working as a caregiver for the elderly with Gentle Hearts under Maria’s supervision has been an extremely positive experience. She has always shown kindness, respect, and professionalism, which creates a comfortable and motivating work environment. She genuinely cares about the well-being of both the clients and the staff, and that makes a big difference—I feel valued and heard.
That trust and support have helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of her wonderful team.
Mike Leggit
My name is Mike Leggit, and I’ve lived in Saddlebrooke for 20 years. It’s been over 10 years since I lost my wife, and after falling and breaking my leg two years ago, I’ve been using a wheelchair. I realized I needed help and hired two different caregiving companies—but neither worked out. They weren’t well-trained and sent someone new almost every week, which made it hard to trust or feel comfortable.
I knew there had to be something better. I came across Gentle Hearts by chance, and when I called, Maria—the owner—came to my home the very same day. I was impressed by her professionalism and decided to hire her company on the spot.
She sent Angie the next day. Angie was kind, helpful, and explained everything clearly—personal care, light housekeeping, laundry, and meals. After about six months, she left to travel with her husband for his trucking job, and I thought I’d have to start all over again. But Maria came right over and introduced me to Crystal. I didn’t miss a beat.
Crystal has been absolutely amazing and has now been with me for nearly two years. I couldn’t ask for better care.
My general health has been greatly improved, thanks to her. I couldn’t be happier.

Choosing a caregiver can be an emotional and daunting task. Over the years my family and I have hired several caregivers for my sister who is terminal. The difficulty has always been finding the right fit to meet my sisters needs. Further finding someone who is dependable and honest. Our family feels very fortunate we have retained Gentle Hearts whom we have employed close to 2 years now. Maria Womack listened to our initial needs and as needs changed has been very accommodating in modifying care. Feedback is so important to our family and Maria and her caregivers have been excellent in keeping our family informed on my sisters condition and needs. If you are in need of services for yourself or a loved one, I would highly recommend you meet with Maria and see if Gentle Hearts is the right fit for your needs.
Dick and Roxy Johnson
We are both in our 80’s and decided we would get some home care to help us in managing our needs of everyday living. After interviewing Gentle Hearts, we were convinced they would be the answer to our needs. Their commitment to caring was impressive and was the major factor in hiring them. Their employees are well trained and professional. We recommend Gentle Hearts highly.
